When I saw the new Ultima RS kit come out, the inner child in me went wild. A kit car of epic proportions. Building a kit car for myself is certainly a dream. GT40’s, Factory Five Cobra’s and Daytona’s all pique my interest. However, the Ultima RS has captivated my primordial need for a build it yourself ULITMATE racer car. A real hypercar competitor that you can assemble yourself at home and power with various amazing American small block motors. Gabriel’s car is essentially what I would want to build for myself, the 1000HP Built LT5 crate engine included! The no compromise, ultimate bang for your buck scenario is WAY too good to deny. Not many new cars really blow me away these days. This Ultima for me is just on another level. Needless to say when we had the chance to do a set of BC Forged KL11’s on Gabriel’s, we were beyond thrilled. BC Forged really matches the build of this car nicely. Awesome performance, true light-weight forged, and awesome quality without killing your entire wallet.

Customer Spotlight: Greg’s Rocket Bunny Datsun 260z x Rotiform LHR 3 piece
I’ve always considered the Datsun 240z and 260z to be some of the best looking cars ever made. One of the most rad and perfect JDM classics that have been built thousands of different ways by enthusiasts over the globe. Still, each one has its own spin and personality. Seeing a rad car go through a SERIOUS build on social media from a far in such great detail has been such a different and unique experience for me. Especially since it’s a car that I have a deep appreciation and passion for, let alone one I had the pleasure of assisting with the wheel options for. Seeing Greg’s dream Z unfold on Instagram and YouTube has really solidified my need for a widebody Datsun Z car. This 260z – built to the nines, features a unique set of Rotiform LHR’s, really setting this build off. Captivating my deepest desires to search craigslist and marketplace for a Z car I can build myself. Meeting and talking to Greg through this process has been such a great experience. Being involved with cool people building cool cars is the lifeblood of Wheel Lab.

Customer Spotlight: Robbie’s C7 Z06 Z07 x BC Forged HCA384s
The C7 Corvette is a car we hold near and dear. Especially since we own one as well. When we met Robbie it was over social media out of sheer chance. A few conversations and a bond was born. A bond created not just because the car is camo and Robbie is a cool dude, but also over our love for lack of compromise when it comes to the C7 Corvette. We both love to set these cars up for ourselves in full “track mode”. Robbie’s C7 Z06 Z07 package with CCB brakes is no exception.
This set up here is unique in specs as we pushed the limits of the offset on the factory body by using the GM recommended FULL track alignment settings. Which leaves a LOT of wheel gap with the added camber. To get these wheels flush it took a keen eye and some seat time to make sure the car would have no rubbing or interference while remaining PERFECTLY flush. Robbie wanted to keep from a driving dynamic perspective the 19/20 wheel sizing while making these flush and functional. What we built was a concave masterpiece of forged aluminum from some on point calculations of the car versus alignment specs.

Customer Spotlight: Marquis’ Audi RS3 x Forged Rotiform LSR 3 piece
What a winning combination by Audi for the RS3. A performance sedan Audi enthusiasts all over have been begging for and Audi delivers! MQB architecture for the platform featuring a performance optimized inline five cylinder capable of making GTR owners second guess their lack of 4 doors when they see the tail lights. Bang for the buck is beyond an understatement with the Audi RS3. With Marquis’ big turbo RS3 he really wanted a set of wheels that can truly compliment the performance pedigree while being perfectly flush on his freshly equipped Air Lift suspension.
What we came up with was the Rotiform LSR. Featuring a convex profile that allows for maximum possible lip on the RS3 platform. We were able to also deliver a half inch larger rear lip while maintaining the same offset all around for a “staggered” look. Keeping the functionality alive as much as much as possible for the desired look and fit he wanted.

Shop Car Spotlight: James’ 2019 Corvette Gransport X BC Forged LE10 X Toyo R888R
The Corvette is one of few cars that shaped my childhood. I spent a lot of my childhood years hearing stories of my dad’s 1969 Corvette and sneaking out in my uncle Greg’s 1971 Lt1 convertible whenever I could. The 1971 Corvette LT1 is the car I leaned to drive manual transmission on, do my first real burn out in, and really cemented my love for the Corvette. I would root for any Corvette I saw at the track, go to every local Corvette show and meet. I was hooked.
It’s a surprise to me a bit that I waited until the last C7 to buy my FIRST Corvette. I was looking for a clean C6 Z06 and found myself entranced at the 2019 Corvette Gransport in Elkhart Lake Blue. The past 2 years with this car I haven’t really gone wild yet. I lowered it on factory bolts, did the Z07 stage 3 wickerbill rear, and an MGW flat stick short throw. We certainly have more aero and power mods planned for the future! Details on that soon.
The one part I knew I wanted to knock out of the park was the wheel set up. Anyone who knows me knows I prefer traction and performance than pure stance. I had 3 needs: A modular wheel with a lip, and 19/19 R888R. Here is the set-up we came up with! I wanted no rubbing, or issues at speed. I wanted a true track day set-up I could run on the street. Traction > ALL!

Customer Spotlight: Sean’s Audi R8 x Rotiform ZMO-M Forged
My friends know how much I love motorsport. A lot of new people will always meet me, see my cars and ask me why isn’t your car slammed? Why don’t you have more camber? For me the answer is clear. I LOVE to drive my cars and track my cars. It’s not that I don’t appreciate a stance build, as I actually do. It’s just motorsport speaks to me. Being on the track pushing your comfort zone to the limit while trying to learn the limits of your car. I tend to set up all my cars this way.
So when Sean wanted to make a set of Rotiform ZMO-M monoblock forged his new track set up we were fired up! What a wheel to compliment such a unique motorsport build. The minimalist and functional approach of Sean’s R8 is a home run to me for sure.

Customer Spotlight: Alex’s C7 Z06 x BC Forged MLE10
Being a Corvette owner myself and total nerd for these cars: I LOVE seeing different renditions and interpretations that we come up with based on customer use and need. These cars are very adaptable and have LOTS of room for activities. Alex came to us with a need for a street set up he would LOVE to drive and won’t negatively affect performance. One of the most surprising complaints for a street set up for the C7 Z/GS cars is the OEM Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
The OEM PSS tires have an uncanny ability to make the car feel unstable from tramlining. This is the tendency of a car to follow the contours in the surface. (The term comes from the tendency of a car’s wheels to follow the normally recessed rails of street trams, without driver input in the same way that the train does.)
This can be super unnerving for these cars at high speed. The Pilot 4s tire has a GREAT ability to eliminate A LOT of that feeling. It also does a great job for a street tire putting down the Z06 power and handling rain. A great all around summer performance tire. We were excited to see Alex test out this set up especially since we went with such a bright set of colors for the LE10 on this car.

Dajiban style – a bunch of Dodge short wheelbase V8 vans set up for motorsport, drift or straight up hooligan actives. What is not to love here? When Luwin reached out to us to get these wheels going I was actually really excited! For me the car culture is about adaptability and passion universally no matter the platform. From McLarens to Dodge vans – cool is cool and this van is one of my favorites. Luwin had a vision, and the only fit was the MLW by Rotiform.
